Curing Olives is a new work by Gabriella Sprenkle. It was written for After School-Special Theatre's Blue Balls: A Night of Unfinished Plays.
"Curing Olives follows the story of a mother and daughter's codependent relationship. Lorena is living at home with her mother. She is riddled with guilt and feels completely dependent. Her life revolves around taking care of her mothers emotional and physical health therefore she has trouble masturbating and having a social life. She meets a local at a nearby bar and he gives her the opportunity to escape her life at home. Curing Olives embodies family drama, the hardships of 'flying the coop' and the difficulties of exploring your own sexuality."
